The general rule of thumb for Boston Terriers is that they're just as cold as you are. If you need a sweater, they need a sweater. If you need a parka, they need a parka.
To that end, last fall, in preparation for Ella's first winter, we got her a jacket. We were in NYC and visited the awesome
Trixie + Peanut, where we got Ella a pink parka that she put to great use last winter.
She might not look happy, but she was sure glad to have it last winter's cold.
As a dog hits maturity, it typically adds a little weight. Ella reached 18 months of age, which is about the age when a dog reaches maturity, last Friday. Her pink parka no longer fit.
After a quick trip to
Wag, one of Ottawa's great pet stores, we were able to find Ella a
Great White North Winter Coat from
Chilly Dogs, a great local business that makes practical clothing for dogs.

Roland is using a loaner coat for this winter, until he reaches maturity next January. We'll definitely be looking to get him his own Chilly Dogs coat at that time.
