Roland's first time in the ring

Today we took Roland to a CKC sanction match put off by the Ottawa Kennel Club at Rideau Carleton Raceway. This was Roland's first time in the ring. We had gone to one conformation class at Guides Canins in Ste-Lazare, QC so that he could work with his breeder, Andre, and had done a little bit of practice hand-stacking him. So he was very green, but this was intended to help him get some practice in case further conformation is in his future.

Roland was entered in the 6-9 months class and there were several Dobermans there, so Roland got to compete against other Dobes. This video is him winning 6-9 months. After this, he was up against his sister, Phoebe, for Best in Breed. Phoebe beat Roland, but Roland was still awarded best of opposite sex. Not bad for his first time out!

Roland is handled here by his breeder, Andre Dandurand, who is an experienced and accomplished handler.

My sister in law Heather shot the video on her iPhone. Click on the buttons on bottom to increase the quality and view in full screen - it makes it easier to see.

I had no idea she was still rolling when she went for an interview after the win. :)
