Ella the Chilly Dog

The general rule of thumb for Boston Terriers is that they're just as cold as you are.  If you need a sweater, they need a sweater.  If you need a parka, they need a parka.

To that end, last fall, in preparation for Ella's first winter, we got her a jacket.  We were in NYC and visited the awesome Trixie + Peanut, where we got Ella a pink parka that she put to great use last winter.

She might not look happy, but she was sure glad to have it last winter's cold.

As a dog hits maturity, it typically adds a little weight.  Ella reached 18 months of age, which is about the age when a dog reaches maturity, last Friday.  Her pink parka no longer fit.

After a quick trip to Wag, one of Ottawa's great pet stores, we were able to find Ella a Great White North Winter Coat from Chilly Dogs, a great local business that makes practical clothing for dogs.

Here are a few shots of Ella modeling her new coat.

Roland is using a loaner coat for this winter, until he reaches maturity next January.  We'll definitely be looking to get him his own Chilly Dogs coat at that time.
