A few random pics of Roland from the last few weeks, with a little explanation.
When you think of the iconic Doberman look, with the ears on full alert, some people don't realize that Dobermans aren't born that way. We've spent the last few months regularly posting Roland's ears - basically inserting a piece of soft foam and then wrapping tape around the ear to hold it in place. It looks as if we've bandaged his ears - that's not the case at all, despite all of the comments we get from people telling us it's a sin, we're cruel, etc. It's painless to the dog, but he does look a little goofy. Once the Doberman is finished teething, his ears will generally stand reliably. Roland is just about done.
In the last pic, you'll notice Roland's left ear has a little but of a curve - we're hoping that with a couple more postings, both ears will be straight in the perfect Doberman look, and we can stop posting once and for all.
The 4th pic was taken the day my brother, Gerry, arrived in town. Within a couple of hours of his arrival, Roland was sleeping in Gerry's lap.
